A new alliance of Mexican states bordering the Pacific Ocean has been formed to boost tourism in the region. Known as the Mexican Pacific Alliance, the group aims to collaborate on strategies to attract more visitors and maximize the economic benefits of the tourism industry.
During their inaugural meeting in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, the alliance members expressed their opposition to a recently proposed $42 fee for cruise ship passengers visiting Mexico. They also announced plans to present a joint proposal at the upcoming Fitur International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain.
The alliance includes the tourism departments of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Sonora, Michoacán, and Jalisco.
