The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government and the local DIF System have announced the 2026 Carrera de las Juventudes (Youth Race), a 5km recreational event designed to support the city’s youngest residents. Scheduled for Sunday, April 26, the race will start at 7:20 AM at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood. This inclusive event invites runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages to enjoy a morning of fitness while contributing to a vital local cause.
All proceeds from the registration fees will fund the second phase of renovations and equipment upgrades for the Child Development Assistance Centers (CADI). These centers are essential to the community, providing early education and childcare services for working families. In a unique show of solidarity, the Youth Directorate is also encouraging “sponsorships,” where citizens can pay the registration fee for vulnerable students, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent local teenagers from participating in this healthy community activity.
Beyond the 5km run, the event will feature a strong focus on animal welfare. The race is pet-friendly, and the city’s Animal Welfare department will set up modules at the sports complex to facilitate pet adoptions and collect food donations. Participants can register until April 22 for a fee of 350 pesos, which includes an official race kit and t-shirt. Interested citizens can sign up or get more information by contacting the organizers via WhatsApp at 322 150 9839.
