Puerto Vallarta has added 35 patrol vehicles to its municipal public-safety fleet, a practical upgrade intended to improve police coverage in neighborhoods, tourist districts and high-traffic areas.
Local reports say 30 units were purchased with federal FORTAMUN 2026 resources, while five additional vehicles were provided on loan by the Government of Jalisco. The vehicles will be operated by the city’s Citizen Security Police Station as Puerto Vallarta continues to manage growth in both population and tourism activity.
The fleet expansion is relevant for visitors because stronger municipal mobility can support faster response times around busy areas such as the Malecón, downtown corridors, beaches and residential zones used by vacation rentals and hotels. It also refreshes older units that have seen years of service.
Reports from Spanish-language outlets note that the package includes specialized units, including a Green Patrol for animal-welfare calls and a Purple Patrol focused on assistance for women in risk situations. Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González framed the delivery as both an investment in public safety and support for municipal police officers. The additions are expected to be deployed across the municipality rather than limited to one tourist corridor.
