A recent study conducted by FlightHub revealed that Puerto Vallarta is the only Mexican city among the top ten international destinations booked by travelers departing from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in 2025.
The study analyzed booking data from October to December 2024 and found that December was the busiest month for international travel bookings. This surge in bookings suggests that Canadians are planning their warm-weather getaways well in advance.
Millennials, aged 25 to 40, accounted for the largest share of international bookings at 31%, followed closely by Generation X at 28%. This trend indicates a shift in travel preferences, with younger generations seeking authentic experiences and adventurous destinations.
Of all international trips booked by Vancouver residents, 7% were to Mexico, with Puerto Vallarta being the most popular destination. Local tourism authorities in Puerto Vallarta have recognized this growing interest from Canadian travelers and are working to enhance the visitor experience.
