Puerto Vallarta’s electric-bus rollout took another concrete step this weekend as Jalisco transportation and public-works officials reviewed progress on the charging station that will power the city’s new articulated buses.
Local reports say Transportation Secretary Diego Monraz and Infrastructure and Public Works Secretary David Zamora Bueno inspected the electrolinera being installed near the municipal police station and slaughterhouse area in Ixtapa. The station represents an investment of 22,160,264 pesos and is designed to charge and store the electric units expected for Puerto Vallarta’s updated transit corridor.
The timing matters for local mobility. The reports say Governor Pablo Lemus is expected to deliver the units on July 30, advancing the same high-capacity electric-bus system PuertoVallarta.net previously covered in its electric bus fleet update. That system is intended to connect busy points including Marina Vallarta, Ixtapa and CUCosta, improving service for residents, workers and visitors moving between the airport-side corridor and central Puerto Vallarta.
The charging site follows an April municipal decision to place a 10,100-square-meter parcel in a 10-year loan agreement for SITEUR, the state urban electric-train agency that is also involved in the bus project. The new infrastructure should help support cleaner transit and more predictable operations once the electric units enter service.
Visitors should not expect an immediate change to every route, but the progress is worth watching for anyone relying on Puerto Vallarta transportation around the north side of town, including trips near Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
