Puerto Vallarta Maintains Strong Hotel Occupancy

Puerto Vallarta held its steady position in Mexico’s tourism landscape, ranking seventh in hotel occupancy during the first five months of 2024.

According to the federal Ministry of Tourism, Mexico’s tourism destinations welcomed a total of 19.6 million hotel guests between January and May 2024. Of these, 14.7 million opted for beach destinations.

Playacar took the top spot with a remarkable 91% occupancy, followed by Akumal at 83.9%. Nuevo Nayarit, just edging out Puerto Vallarta, secured third place with 81.8%, while Cabo San Lucas and Cancun followed closely behind at 79.6% and 78.2%, respectively. Puerto Vallarta, despite its seventh-place ranking, maintained a respectable 76.3% occupancy.

Despite the slight dip in its occupancy ranking, Puerto Vallarta remains a significant player in Mexico’s tourism sector, showcasing its enduring appeal to domestic and international travelers.
