Puerto Vallarta is inviting families to a Día de Muertos kids race on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. Carrera Infantil Pata Salada starts at 7:00 a.m. at Parque Lineal Río Pitillal, in El Pitillal.
Girls, boys, and teens ages 6 to 17 can run 600, 1,200, 1,500, or 2,000 meters, with cash prizes for the first places in the kids categories. After those races, there is a 4-kilometer family run. Organizers also plan raffles, including a bicycle and a Nintendo Switch.
City officials say the morning is meant to promote sport, family time, and support for a public school. Athletics coach Jesús Galileo Ortiz Rodríguez said it can also help find new talent for scholarships at the Halcones athletics school.
Councilor Erika Yesenia García Rubio, who chairs the recreation, sports, and youth commissions, asked families to come out. Local youth champion Emiliano Ortiz Dueñas told participants that finishing first is not the point. What matters, he said, is having fun as a family.
Registration costs 350 pesos per person and includes a dry-fit shirt and a medal. Call 322 109 1641 for details and sign-up. This children’s race is separate from the October UTMB Pata Salada 5K that uses a similar name.
