Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for a spectacular and heartfelt celebration of Día de Muertos, with local businesses and venues rolling out an exciting and diverse calendar of events. Starting the final week of October and running through November 2nd, the city will come alive with vibrant tributes to one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions.
Coco Cabaret will host a “Traditions of Life and Death” show, featuring a spectacular mix of folklore, music, and dance on multiple Saturdays. Meanwhile, Casa Cúpula is offering a full celebratory weekend, highlighted by a dinner and show, and a Big Gay Drag Brunch and T Dance Pool Party. Even the dining scene is joining in, with Whiskey Kitchen offering a special Taco, Mezcal & Tequila Tour on October 31st.
Beyond the nightlife, community and culture take center stage. The Fourth Annual Isla de Los Muertos Festival will take place on the Río Cuale Island on November 1st, featuring live entertainment, impressive Catrinas and ofrendas (altars). Best of all, proceeds from this family-friendly event will benefit local charities, including Vallarta Garden Club and Vallarta Cares. Various venues will offer unique cultural experiences, ensuring the tradition is accessible city-wide. La Isla Shopping Village will host a public exhibition of traditional Day of the Dead altars, while local artists like Brenda Gaviño will perform special concerts of traditional Mexican songs.
These announced events complement the city’s traditional, government-organized festivities, which typically include breathtaking altar displays and giant Catrinas on the Malecón.
