The Puerto Vallarta City Council has officially launched the call for nominations for the 2026 Premio Puerto Vallarta, the city’s highest honor for citizens and organizations. Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González announced that the awards seek to recognize those whose “experience, talent, and commitment” have significantly impacted the city’s growth. Nominations are open to the public and must be submitted by April 27, 2026, at the General Secretariat offices located in City Hall.
The awards are divided into several distinguished categories named after key historical figures. Notable honors include the Ignacio Luis Vallarta Ogazón award for lifelong community service, the Manuel Lepe Macedo award for excellence in the arts, and the Francisco Medina Ascencio award for outstanding tourism promotion. Other categories specifically highlight leaders in education, environmental conservation, sports, and social assistance, ensuring that all sectors of the community have the opportunity to be celebrated.
Following the submission deadline, an Advisory Council will evaluate each candidate based on their documented achievements and community testimonials. The winners will be honored in a formal City Council session on May 31, 2026, coinciding with the city’s anniversary celebrations. Residents are encouraged to review the full guidelines through official government channels and nominate those who have worked to build a stronger, more connected Puerto Vallarta.
