PV Prepares for 18th Annual Playa Los Muertos Fishing Tournament

Puerto Vallarta is set to host the 18th annual Playa Los Muertos Fishing Tournament on November 7 and 8. The traditional event, which draws local and international anglers, will feature a total prize purse of 450,000 pesos across the Dorado, Marlin, Tuna, and Jack Crevalle categories.

What began as a local initiative has grown significantly, attracting over 100 vessels and participants from across Mexico and countries like the U.S. and U.K. This year, organizers are emphasizing marine preservation, implementing weight and size limits for catches according to environmental recommendations.

The tournament offers substantial rewards, including 250,000 pesos for the Dorado winner, alongside prizes for other categories. The official fishing day is November 8, with boats departing from Los Muertos Pier at 7:00 a.m. The event concludes with an awards reception where the catches will be char-grilled by a local chef, providing a festive end to this important sporting tradition.
