PV to Host National Clean Beaches Day

In observance of World Environment Day, a national beach cleanup day will take place on Thursday, June 5th, starting at 6:30 a.m. at Los Arcos del Malecón. This effort is being coordinated with the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, and locally driven by the Commission for Free, Clean, and Certified Beaches, chaired by Councilman Christian Bravo Carbajal.

The cleanup aims to raise awareness about the detrimental impact of waste on marine environments. Such pollution not only harms marine life but also critical ecosystems like coral reefs, which are essential for biodiversity and coastal protection.

Citizens are encouraged to participate wearing a white t-shirt and a cap, and to avoid single-use plastics. These efforts are particularly urgent given that oceans are considered the planet’s primary “lungs,” generating more than half of the oxygen we breathe.
