Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. RIU Hotels & Resorts has completed a sweeping transformation of its iconic Riu Jalisco property, officially reopening it as Riu Flamingos on May 1, 2026. The rebrand signals the end of a comprehensive renovation and the modernization of the chain’s entire hotel footprint in the Flamingos area.
The resort now offers 820 fully renovated rooms, including 120 new units added during the expansion. Designed with a contemporary, bright style, the accommodations cater especially to large families: new family rooms comfortably sleep up to six people, making shared vacations easier without sacrificing space.
The gastronomy has also been refreshed. Guests can now visit American Country, serving classic American dishes, and the Candy Ice Cream Parlor, a family-friendly dessert spot. The changes are part of RIU’s broader effort to align all its Riviera Nayarit properties with current design and service standards, following earlier renovations of the Riu Vallarta (2019) and Riu Palace Pacifico (2023).
Located within the Condominio Flamingos area of Nuevo Vallarta and the wider Bahía de Banderas region, the property retains its all-inclusive beachfront format while upgrading interiors, dining concepts, and room configurations. Travelers arriving by air will find the resort roughly 15 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
