The Italian Navy’s training ship, Amerigo Vespucci, known as the “most beautiful ship in the world,” will arrive in Puerto Vallarta on June 18th to commemorate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Mexico.
The Italian ambassador to Mexico, Alessandro Modiano, highlighted that the arrival of the Amerigo Vespucci, a “floating museum” open to the public and schools, symbolizes the strong friendship between the two countries. The ship, named after the Florentine navigator Amerigo Vespucci, has trained generations of Italian Navy cadets since 1930.
Modiano stated that Italy and Mexico have a relationship of “excellence” with “unexplored potential.” Mexico has become the top market for Italian exports to Latin America, reaching a record value of $8.6 billion in 2023. Italy is Mexico’s second-largest supplier among European Union countries and boasts over 2,300 Italian-owned companies operating in Mexico.
The visit of the Amerigo Vespucci is a significant event celebrating the long and fruitful relationship between Italy and Mexico, pointing towards an even brighter future for both nations.
