Last week, Vallarta experienced a significant economic boost this past weekend with the simultaneous arrival of two major cruise ships, the Ruby Princess and the Norwegian Encore. Together, these vessels brought over 9,400 international tourists to the city.
According to data from the Puerto Vallarta National Port System Administration (Asipona Vallarta), the Ruby Princess docked at Pier 1 at 6:30 AM, arriving from Manzanillo, Colima, and bound for Mazatlán. The ship carried 2,935 passengers and 1,154 crew members on an 11-day voyage. Shortly after, at 10:30 AM, the Norwegian Encore arrived at Pier 3, having departed from Cabo San Lucas and en route to Manzanillo. This larger vessel accommodated 3,708 passengers and 1,625 crew members on a 21-day itinerary.
The combined economic impact of these two cruise ship visits is estimated to be slightly over $1.1 million USD. This figure takes into account the average spending per passenger, which includes port taxes, purchases, and souvenirs.
