Vallarta Officially Hosting 67th Ariel Awards

The Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC) has revealed that the 67th annual Ariel Awards, celebrating the best in Mexican cinema, will take place in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, on September 20th. This year, the coveted Ariel de Oro will be presented to two iconic actresses, Patricia Reyes Spíndola and Jacqueline Andere, alongside the influential Union of Cinematographic Production Workers (STPC).

The Ariel de Oro is a prestigious accolade that recognizes excellence and extensive careers, honoring individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to Mexican cinema. Since its inception in 1986, the AMACC has bestowed this distinguished award upon 89 luminaries and organizations.

The STPC, founded in 1945 with notable figures like Cantinflas and Jorge Negrete among its founders, has been indispensable in shaping and solidifying Mexico’s film industry. Its impact extends beyond technical contributions, encompassing creative and organizational aspects crucial to the industry’s growth.

Puerto Vallarta’s selection as the host city marks a significant shift for the Ariel Awards. Historically, the ceremony was held exclusively in Mexico City, with Guadalajara hosting in 2023 and 2024.
