Puerto Vallarta has released the first design images for the renovation and improvement of its iconic oceanside promenade, the Malecón. This significant project is already underway, promising to greatly enhance the visitor experience and is scheduled for completion just before the busy December holiday season.
The renovation effort focuses on both aesthetic and functional upgrades. Planned improvements include adding new urban amenities, increasing lighting for enhanced safety, incorporating planters, and installing an automated irrigation system. Furthermore, crews are addressing general wear and tear by replacing damaged paving slabs, restoring benches, updating electrical wiring, and repainting various structures along the popular promenade.
A major element of the project is the planned expansion of the Malecón’s northern section. Set to begin in late October 2025, this construction will extend the promenade from 31 de Octubre Street to Argentina Street, allowing the Malecón to connect seamlessly with Parque Hidalgo in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood.
