New Delay for Amado Nervo Bridge Work

The long-anticipated construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge has hit another snag. The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) has once again pushed back key dates, moving the contract award to July 15, with work now tentatively scheduled to commence on July 16.

This marks the second delay in recent weeks for the project. Originally slated to begin on June 25, then postponed to June 30, the bridge’s construction now faces further setbacks. While the contract is expected to be awarded on July 15, there remains uncertainty about whether immediate construction will indeed follow the very next day.

Also known as the Ameca River Bridge, this significant project has been in the planning stages since 2015. Backed by an estimated investment of 900 million pesos, the completed bridge promises substantial benefits for local transportation, commerce, and the daily lives of residents in both Jalisco and Nayarit.

The bridge’s design features an 800.4-meter-long structure with four traffic lanes—two in each direction—along with side shoulders and a central barrier. With a total width of 20 meters, the project also includes 1.55 kilometers of access roads on both sides, ensuring smooth connectivity to Avenida Federación and surrounding areas.
