The sculpture, located at the entrance of “Gardens of the Sun,” was officially declared a Monumental Cultural Heritage of Bahía de Banderas on November 25, 2025. The powerful 3.80-meter-tall statue was proudly unveiled by the XII Constitutional Town Hall, led by Mayor Héctor Santana García, marking a significant dedication to civic values in the region.
The striking artwork, which weighs approximately 350 to 400 kilograms, was meticulously crafted by local artists Francisco and Xóchitl Villalobos at the Casa de La Iguana workshop in Valle de Banderas. Made from resin and fiberglass over an internal metal skeleton, the robust structure stands as a permanent fixture celebrating strength and freedom.
The broken chain on the statue powerfully symbolizes the end of oppression, while a supporting hand entering the upper frame represents the crucial assistance—from a friend, family, or institution—that aids a woman in freeing herself and beginning the healing process.
