Puerto Vallarta’s Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) is expanding its reach with eight new routes for 2026, signaling a strong recovery and positioning the destination for continued growth. Airport officials confirmed the additions during the 2026 Advisory Commission session held Wednesday near Marina Vallarta.
The new routes bring Puerto Vallarta to 54 active domestic and international connections, with 17 airlines now serving the Pacific coast gateway. Three of the additions are domestic Volaris flights, while five are international services.
New Domestic Routes (Volaris)
- Puerto Vallarta – Puebla: Launching June 2, 2026, with three weekly flights.
- Puerto Vallarta – Aguascalientes: Starting June 2026, three weekly flights.
- Puerto Vallarta – San Luis Potosí: Beginning June 2026, four weekly flights.
New International Routes
- Puerto Vallarta – Las Vegas: Southwest Airlines launches June 6, 2026, with two weekly flights.
- Puerto Vallarta – Edmonton: Porter Airlines begins November 3, 2026, three weekly flights.
- Puerto Vallarta – Calgary: Air Canada starts December 10, 2026, three weekly flights.
Airport administrator Omar Gildardo Torres Grajeda noted that two additional international routes will be announced soon. “We are about to open another four flights in June, three of them from Volaris, and we also have operators like Porter,” he said during the commission meeting.
Through April 2026, the airport served 2.5 million travelers, with international visitors representing more than 60 percent of total traffic. While March and April saw declines compared to 2025 following the February events, officials expect traffic to normalize in May and potentially surpass last year’s figures by June. No routes were lost during the slowdown; only frequencies were adjusted.
The expanded connectivity coincides with major infrastructure work. The airport’s new Terminal 2 is now 71 percent complete and will significantly increase passenger capacity when finished. In 2025, PVR set a record with approximately 7 million passengers and more than 67,000 flight operations.
