Airport Timeshare Sharks

We always get a porter. On 10/20 we made it all the way to the exit of the second tank before anyone tried to talk to us, we just kept following the porter and were in a taxi and on our way in no time.

A bit off topic, but what was really cool at LAX I got a skycap outside of the Delta terminal, once inside we bypassed the lines and were taken to a counter marked skycap assistance. The skycap asked me for our passports, he took them and got our boarding passes and the tags for our luggage, then he took our bags to the TSA without weighing them (at least one bag was overweight). We were all checked in in less than five minutes, a $5 tip quickly became $10 for that kind of service.

we get a porter as well... even with only three bags between lorrie and me... they buzz right thru those guys and out to the taxis and we are off to the resort... aaaaaaaaaaaaaa oh well... only 4 more sleeps...

I just posted above asking for info about where these timeshare people are located.

Just to clarify....after I clear the red light/green light area that is where they are located.
My tour operator will be located beyond that gauntlet?

I assume I get my baggage before I head to customs? is that where the porters are located?
Would a porter take me to my tour operator? The person holding the sign?
And how much do I tip?
I will be taking peso with me.

Most of my bags are on wheels and my kids are older, 16 & 13 but the porter seems the way to go.

I think we are going to use the porters as well. It seems to be the quickest way to get past these guys. I told my girlfriend to definitely use the porter the second week when she comes. Being on her own I think she might have more of a hassle them some...

what does what the taxi driver tells me have to do with the porters offended by my 100 peso tip? and if you work for no salary does that make you a paid employee?

This was my first time to PV, and I have been warned and have read about all the time sharks, so I thought I was prepaired. This was an airport porter, so I thought I was in the clear.

As for the VIP desk, it is just past the Immigration line. You get your passport checked, then the hallway immediately turns right. Just as it turns right there is a \"VIP\" desk on the left side of the hall where they had my name on sign. They gave me my paperwork for the private car, and as I headed for the luggage claim thats when I got mobbed by the porter, who TOOK the paperwork from my hand saying to come with him.

In the future I know what to look for; this was just a rude welcome for a first time visitor.

domestic arivals in pvr do have tmeshare reps at times

last summer my wife and travelles extensively through mexico by air and we found our return flights seemed to be a little more awkward because of this

timeshares play a huge part of business here in puerto vallarta wether we like it or not

we can just ignore them
it doesnt have to be a big scene everytime you go through the tanks

just smile and say no thank you

Just back from another amazing time in PV. Sharks are still there in the airport, but i found them to be much less agressive than last year. Maybe it was just an off day for them, maybe not.

Its is amazing that the airport allows this. They must get kickbacks. My first time to PV 3 years ago, I was confused. My sister and friends are going in about a month. I warned her, but it can really be confusing.

Has anyone heard any more about the sharks being banned from the airports? I heard this at the Mayan Palace back in nov. and talked to a couple other folks who had heard it. It was supposed to go into effect this year. Well, they say if it seems to good to be true it probably is.

#1 piece of advice....

keep walking until you go through the sliding doors...anyone that talks to you after you press the button for customs (red light/green light) until you go through the sliding doors is trying to sell you timeshare...just say no gracias and keep walking...no problems.
