Re: HOLIDAY INN
I could be wrong here( iknow i know another first for me) but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the HOLIDAY Inn Puerto Vallarta is not owned by the Holiday Inn chain , didnt someone buy it and just keep the name ? Yes, I believe you are correct. Seems to me I read or heard that somewhere too.

No Holiday At The Inn
I think me and Laurie have stayed at the HI 3x and the condos once . Definitely not a 4 star but a solid 3 . Location , pool , beach are great . If you get a bad room or one facing the construction your rating will drop . Sorry your trip sucked - lower your expectations and shop around - life will be better . :)
ok
i think by the first post of the person we might be better off just letting her rant a little more lol

with all due respect if you dont look into thes issues before you ravel you really wont have the right knowledge

im glad you found THIS board now
but its a little late

in the future keep us in mind

Hi Staff
I bet it was \"Sammy\" that danced with you Chris . He is a excellent server and has several dance moves :) . He has been at HI for many years . He wears a ballcap and almost runs around the pool area- big white hightop sneakers - 50 yrs + - six days a week .
Because of reports I have read from several friends and chats I have had with them I would not hestitate booking the holiday Inn ...
We have been to PV numerous times, stayed at several different resorts, (have our favorite) but still have been to several others, al inclusive and not. We recently returned from 2 weeks at the Holiday Inn, the only saving grace was we rented a Condo in the Sea Tower which was beautiful, we stayed the first night in a hotel room at the HI, we would have left if that would have been our accomodation for two weeks. We are not hard to please especially in PV, but drinks and food at the HI were sub standard to anything we have had before. Like I posted on Trip Advisor a lot of people enjoy this resrot as it was full, we did not, for many reasons, thank goodness we had the view and nice amenities of the condo. We would never return, but I am sure it is suitable for a good percentage of travelers. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for!
Vacation Choices
Buffet 06 - you have me laughing with the rat or water buffalo idea . A friend of ours was in the Dominican and spotted a rat in her room she alerted the front desk and they sent up a worker with a stick to kill it ! :)
Poodlelady what other resorts did you check out ? Fiesta Americana is very close to Holiday Inn and is probably a better choice for you . Like Buffet 06 posted this can be a learning experience . Board members have stayed everywhere in PV and have lots of useful info to share . :)
A musty smell is to be expected anywhere in the tropics but mold needs to be removed with bleach. If she encountered black or green mold, she should have moved out as this is very unhealthy and prolonged exposure can lead to COPD.
Personally when i have read this thread for the um-teenth time... i have to agree with some of the other posters on your play on words, your contradictions inside your \"tale\"... you got what you wanted, you got your refunds, your points back, etc... and now it looks like in your posts you are looking for approval on what you got or on what you did.

good luck on your future vacation destinations.... may they be all champagne and caviar, with palm frawns waved over you by the staff to keep you cool, may your drink never get below half empty or watered down, may you never have to wait for a chair, or that each and every meal is prepared for you by your table by your personal chef.... for half the points normally used....
Trust me, Poodlelady has never stayed at a Sandals resort.
Let it be...
my final thoughts on this...

Why were my words deleted on the locked thread... Murder in PV after bayside
when I said let it be... The fight had ended there...
Tom tired of your mocking...
Many saw my post and your response... It was same as on this thread then your post changed...

all i did was add the \"song\" ... that is all i did Sylvia..... there was no mocking... just applying an explanation point to your \"let it be....\"
3-star is not moldy, just a little worn and old.
so how many stars do you all have when ordering the spicey chicken terriyaki? sorry if i killed the mood
cant complain about hi
we were at the hi in jan for 2 weeks ai. cant complain, we had a room facing the construction asked for another next morning got a pool and ocean view.. hard beds they all are unless your staying at a 5 star.
good drinks plastic is safer then glass around pool cant blame them.. food was repetitious 2nd week but was good. service was great. small tips are always appreciated..

we stayed at a 3 star costa club 2 years in a row , so you can see the difference between the 3 and 4.
also stayed at a 4 star mona linda up in the moutains, in the romantic zones. that had beautiful authentic condo type but old old appliances, and lots of stairs no lifts and no tv or radio or phone. so go figure.

also stayed at the Los Tulos. beautiful place but we had a terrible room and no all inclusive.. very expensive for my taste for what you get..

also stayed at the grand mayan . now thats class cant find anything wrong there but you pay through the nose.

so for the price of the hi i find the best so far for quality view and service. don;t compare to cruises or hotels in canada or us. totally different standards,

but don;t forget you are in a different country dont you want to have a different experience and have a little of the ambiance of mexico..

if you want all perfect mayby should stick to cruises and a 5 plus star hotels. we like to mingle with the people and learn some of there ways of living ...

cant wait til next year to go again to H I..

hola
I have said several times that we loved the beautiful weather, the pool was nice, always love the beach & ocean, the walk downtown was fun and also the boardwalk was neat and they have a lot of nice shops. It seems that if you want to post a complaint you are looked down upon, sorry but I am not going to sugar coat it for the next uninformed vacationer. I am going to tell the truth, I am from the midwest and we are honest people. Originally from Iowa, (GO HAWKS) and now from Kansas (WHAT ABOUT THOSE JAYHAWKS)! Sorry but the mold, bed and the food left us with bad memories. I do not need a free vacation, but I will complain if the situation is bad enough, and it was! I have also been advised that the Holiday Inn is going to address the mold situation. I doubt that the food ever changes and the beds will probably always be hard as a rock. Sorry for offending all the Canadian birds that flock to Puerto Vallarta year after year. I guess I am considered a spoiled princess afterall.......

\"People will forget what you said;
people will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you
made them feel.\"

I think the Honolulu suggestion was a good one for her.

I would have never guessed you for a Hawkeye (Cyclone maybe), and yes the Jayhawks did come thru for my brackets, but i had so many other let downs on my NCAA sheets....

I have to becareful here, as i have to agree with Sylvia... no offense poodlelady... it is hard to get to know a person when their very first post is so negative... and as you can see many people were very skeptical with your comments, i too was very skeptical... we have known many people that stay at the HI and have had a wonderful experience... we would meet on the beach between HI and GCP, we would meet at the Oasis for cocktails or a light lunch etc...

We have been coming to this area for 15 yrs now (Puerto Vallarta for 10 yrs and Nuevo for 5 yrs before that).. we have been travelling to Mexico and the Caribbean for 20 yrs now... so we have gotten to be very comfy with Puerto Vallarta and all her qualities good and bad....

so i hope you find your niche in Vallarta, or at least give Vallarta another shot at your vacation dollars....
H.I. Warning
Poddle lady, you could not be any more RIGHT! I agree 100%! We stayed there a year and a half ago and it was a dive! All we heard the entire stay was some guy with a jack hammer doing repairs to the concrete around the pool and loud music and noisey spring break kids. I understand kids have spring break, but no one monitored them. It was disgusting how the pool looked. They drank and never got out of it - I presume they were doing their peeing in the pool and spilling their drinks in it too! By the end of the weekend the pool color was a disgusting ugly merky color and we would not even go in it because you could not even seee the bottom! We went next door and bought drinks at the Villa del Pal Mar to get in their clean pool. (Now that place you could call a 4 star!) I agree too about the Food at HI was slop! The rooms were disgusting, we had stained bed sheets and mold on the walls! We complained about all this to the manager and he seemed angry and did nothing. Worst stay we have every had in PV! We will NEVER stay there again. I have stayed at 2 stars and had better! PLEASE BE WARNED. If enough people say it is true then it is. If it walks like a duck and quaks like a duck, then likley it is a duck!
It is very hard to be accepted on a forum....
QUOTE: \"It is very hard to be accepted on a forum when ones first posts are complaints...???\"

I find this hard to beleive someone actually said this. Did I not read the Forum was called COMPLAINTS & WARNINGS FOR PUERTO VALLARTA?

No need to take offence or take it personal. If people want to voice their opinions or experiences, this forum is named what it is, so other people can evaluate comments and make an informed decisions.
\"This world is getting worse and worse about taking advantage of people and it is not right! \"

hmm...how ironic is that?
While I have never stayed there myself I dont know one person I ever met in PV who stayed at the HI and had a good experience.

I can assure you there are way more things to do in PV than any cruise. You just have to go out and explore. I find it sad that you let that place alone color your PV experience. :(
Have to agree with the above. This will be our 25th consecutive year in PV (must be a rut, but one we choose). There is much to do and see in PV and despite all the building, increased traffic, we have never had anything but a good time.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn in February of 07 and went back in January of 08. As I posted in my trip reports we had a great time. As it is quite busy there when we go and saw some of the same people I would say that some people are quite happy with the accomodations. :)
Those great prices make it mighty tempting to book at PV trip right now..
One can also get great deals at other resorts in PV..
Even with taxes and the other little charges..like fuel :x :P etc. ones final bill for a one week A1 holiday would be wonderful....
