Wow, that is bad news! Puts a new meaning into the phrase \"Do your homework\" before you buy. Better to have one fixed month than go for the 2 for 1 deal and get told you have nothing.

Re:playa del sol
I too am very sorry to hear about your experiences with playa del sol. I am scheduled to stay there April 24 for a week. I would love to hear more info on the condo itself. I have another thread posted already and appreciate the info. but thought any more info would be great. Exercise equip?, pool condition? I believe there are no bars etc. on premise? accomodating staff?....
Also, I live in a resort area myslf and there are many timeshares etc...Outer Banks of NC. I am shocked to hear of the price paid for the month at this time share. Is this typical? We have a beautiful beach etc...(very different from Mexico, though) and our prives are much lower. Good luck with your problem.

Playa del Sol is a little different as it is a fractional not a timeshare, so you own it forever, can be willed etc. so it is not a 15, 20 or 25 year deal. Some of the units are privately owned like a regular condo, and some do rent weekly as well. Other units are monthly fractionals, and you can get other deals, such as just a week a year. Obviously very popular, probably why they had to build the Grand in Nuevo, just not enough rooms available.
Re:playa del sol
I was told years ago that because of a Mexican law barring non nationals from property ownership all Time share/condo sales were contracted with up to 99 year leases from the time of incorporation.
