that is some great info. I too, roll most things. I guess my mistake was that I found a corner (zippered corner omigod) and just stuck the bag in there as it was a free area. I have learned my lesson. There is a mexican baggage bandito now enjoying my (mainly) mexican jewellery. He could probably buy it cheaper than I did as he no doubt has a \"cousin\". free is better though.
They are only as secure as the link between sides! And there are times that even padlocks are no guarantee even with a higher rating from authorities as they can easily eke out the items from any side by cutting it. Nevertheless, you just have to get an insurance policy to cover your stuff so that you would not be troubled by it. Or better yet, you should make it a point not to put any expensive stuff that might just be broken or stolen.
