Out of the Smoke and Heat.

Summer is slipping by fast and, here in the Sacramento Valley, we are not able to go out and do summer activities due to very unhealthy air quality because of smoke from the fires, even though we are finally getting a little break from the heat. (only going to be about 98 degrees today). Even the Chico Outlaws baseball games have been getting called off this weekdue to smoke. So, in a couple of hours, we are headed to the Mendocino coast area for a cool down and clean air. Four days of relaxation. Seeya when we get back.

Firefighters prayer

This prayer is dedicated to all those who have gone before me and who will follow me in the line

When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late, or save an
older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbor and protect his property.
And if according to my fate I am to lose my life this day,
Please bless with your protecting hand my family this I pray.
