Punta Negra

Hi! Is anyone familiar with the Punta Negra area? Is it far from the south side of PV? Is it safe to take buses out there after dark? We are looking at condos for 2010 and would like to take a look when we are there this Feb. We usually stay around the Pulpito Street area and are not familiar with Punta Negra. Any comments would be welcome!
