Teaching

Started April 3, 2006 · 5,397 views · 5 posts
I lived and worked in Vallarta for 7 months on my GAP year doing voluntary work in 2001. I am now living at home in England but dream of returning to Mexico. At the moment I am working in Commercial Conveyancing but I have been looking into doing a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course in Guadalajara and would be grateful to know what the opportunities for teaching are in PV and Guadalajara. Are there jobs available and would they enable me to earn enough to live off the breadline! Also looking at posts renting accomodation seems expensive, when I was there I rented a flat in the Barrio Sant Maria very cheaply, is cheap accomodation available anywhere in either place, I would not be fussy about location..

Thank you in advance for any advice anyone has.

Hi Camila
I am sure you will receive answers to your questions from those that know about working and finding affordable accomodation in Puerto Vallarta.
Nice dreams to have and they could turn to reality.
Good luck!

I see you live in Bristol England.
My brother and his fam live in Bristol.
If everything works out as planned we will
be visiting Bristol in Sept.
First trip to Europe so am quite excited.
I have dreams of visiting castles and little
town pubs dining on fish and chips :)
and seeing the Baths in Bath and walking the London route the Abbey window shopping at Harrods and if I have time I may have tea with the Queen.
Best of all though will be seeing family and Friends.
I have a few very good email buddies that live near Bristol and who were vacationing in Puerto Vallarta 2002. Friendships and bonds formed from the time we met in PV.
A plan is to reunite.

Again best wishes.
Thanks so much for the offer Joyce. I would like to take you up on the offer . Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
If.... all goes according to plan. :)
My brother and his family would pick us up from Heathrow and take us to his home. He does plan to tour us around but.... I want him to still love me when I wave good bye to him at the airport :) so we plan to do a few over nighters and train trips.
I too prefer going off on our own to explore.
I am greedy and want to see so much.
I will pm you soon. :)
You will have a fabulous time, I love England (although I am a little biased) and Bristol is great! Make sure you get your brother to show you around Clifton, it is so pretty and there are great cafes and restaurants and shopping! Sure you can get all the info you need off your family but any questions...

Camilla I will pm you when flight is booked and Thanks :)

I did a little searching for you and found a site that may help answer a few of your questions about teaching in Puerto Vallarta . There is an area on the site that has info about accomodation .
If you have more questions there is an email address provided for that purpose.
Even if you do not go through the sites program they may be able to lead you in the right direction that will suit your needs..
Best wishes
