Have you tried using Kayak.com to check fares. It will check all the airlines that fly to PV for the dates you want to go. Your dates will have an effect on what the fare is. For an example I just put in two weeks the middle to end of October and the fare was $472 - $475 RT PP (including taxes, fees, etc) on US Airways, American, Continental and United. The times seemed decent and there were no long layovers on some, others had longer flight times because of layovers. October is shoulder season so the fares are lower that they would probably be in Dec-May.
The issues i would be concerned with are when you make a resevation for a flight and they change their schedules a month after. American air is alwayse changing and cancelling flights,I have always flown with them but their schedules this year are terrible. There are a couple of flghts i am looking into and its a toss up between continental and united
I realize this post is very old but your concerns should be very real with united airlines.
I had a flight booked many months in advance with united.Three months before my flight they cancelled. This happened just recently.
They offered me a refund, or a flight $300.00 more expensive with two connections and I would have to spend a night in Denver at my own expense.
I believe my flight was cancelled because they had a plane full of people paying 300.00 less than the current going rate. They offered no explanation as to why my flight was cancelled.
Booked with another airline, will never book with united airlines again.
