Re:avoiding getting sick
Increasing your intake of yogurt can increase the good bacteria in your system. If yogurt is not your thing, you can go to GNC or some other health food store and purchase ACIDOLPHILUS capsules. Make sure that they are the ones that can increase your bacteria by millions. Another thing to keep in mind is to take things slow once you get to PV. To much sun, food and alcohol to quickly is a sure way to get sick. Allow your body to get used to its new surroundings. Also use good judgement at the places you chose to eat. One more thing, make sure that you use good hand washing or a sanitizing gel to kill the germs that you are bound to pick up on your hands.
Re:avoiding getting sick
In addition to yogurt, Immodium has a friendly bacteria pill you take daily. The friendly bacteria helps to crowd out unfamiliar bacteria. I get mine at Walgreens.

We tried the Pepto pills our first time to PV but realized they are not necessary, and we are not shy about eating at the taco carts.
Re:avoiding getting sick
I have been to cabo six times without a problem...I will be taking my first visit to PV in early May. I have always takensome pills from GNC that have grapefruit extract and Garlic about twoweeks prior to going. I have eaten at all kinds of places and drank water where ever I went
Re:avoiding getting sick
Hi, went down to PV on March 22 and got the \"trots\" on the 27th. They stayed with me despite all the pepto and Immodiaum I could eat. Finally on April 13th I went to a doc back home and he gave me a Precription for Chipro...6 tablets = $30.00! Well within one day I was \"well\" again. I still have not really had a \"ahem\"...good solid crap, but at least I can control when I go. Doc seems to think I contracted it while pubbing because of the timing of my onset. Oh well, who know where or how, it was not much fun. I also think I was hit hard because it was my first trip in Mexico, so my body had no idea what was being put into it. My advice would be to see a doc before you go and if this drug will not have a bad side effect for you (everyone is different) I would buy some either before I go or while down there. Other than that, I am planning on going back to PV...We loved it and plan on returning many times!

Oops, forgot to mention that Bayer markets Ciprox under the name \"Ciproxina\" in Mexico. The pharmacist will probably know it by both names, though.

Stay healthy, all!
Re:avoiding getting sick
Just beware that Cipro has a side effect of hypersensitivity to the sun (aka) photosensitivity to the sun, which means it should not be taken when you are being exposed to prolonged periods of sunlight. So it is not advisible to take it and then go out in the sun. I had a photo allergy to the sun from tetracycline when I was in high school and believe me it is no fun. So beware of buying antibiotics over the counter without knowing the full range of side effects from them.
