Beaches

I have heard reports of the beaches being dirty and of the ocean being unclean, is this true?

having just gotten back form pv i did not notice this. in fact me and my hunny were just commenting on how much people are always cleaning down there lol and we sed it sure puts canada for shame. as to the beach being dirty it is not it is a normal ocean lol the ocean in vancouver is very gross and dirty but what i seen in pv was very nice. i think if you are expecting to see crytal clear waters and clear light blue ocean than you will be disapointed. this ocean is the pacific and while it is very nice and clean it is not the ocean you would see in cancun or cozumel on the caribean side of the ocean.... so safe to say no its not dirty or unclean...

Beaches are cleaned everyday. During the rainy season sometimes silt and plant debris washes down from the mountains and can collect on the beaches and cloudy up the water, though still not bad.

There are many ways to answer this question of course, but in general - PV beaches are nothing like the fine white sandy beaches in the caribbean. By \"clean\" it can be said that beaches around the hotel zones do not have fine sand and can be mixed with gravel. Some of this is still from the damage of Kenna 2 1/2 years ago. Many hotels have brought in fine sand for palapa areas, etc. The beaches farther out are much nicer in general, but still not a big difference in sand \"quality\". We go up to beaches north of Sayulita and they are still not much better. As for quality of the ocean water, simply stay away from the rivers. Last year a report came out on water quality at Mexican resorts and PV was listed as very poor. However the testing was done around the river downtown and during the rainy season. So, as stated above, generally beaches and sea water are very clean for the west coast of Mexico.

The PV beaches are clean and waters very inviting.
You may explore beaches in Zona Romanrtica or in Zona Hoteliera..all offers great swiming opportunities.

You should explore beaches in Nuevo Vallarta and Punta de Mita which is superb!
