Re:beaches
I have never stayed in Puerto Vallarta, always Nuevo Vallarta. They are fine up there, the sand is nice and the beaches are clean. I have only seen the beaches downtown, by the malecon and they do not look like you could swim there. It all depends where you stay.

The beach drops off a lot faster the further south and north you go. I think the sand in the north hotel zone to Nuevo is a little finer but with the rebuilding after the hurricane a lot of the downtown beaches are much better than they used to be. All in all I would rather be sunning myself on any of them than sitting in a cornfield watching the snow blow.
Re:beaches
Hi there,

I love the ocean. Last year I stayed at the Royal Decameron just before Bucerias. My husband and I were on the boogi boards
having a blast, and when I went to put my feet down I stepped on a stingray. I tried swimming away from that spot to only put down my feet again and either stepped on the same one or another one!
Well, I tried swimming away one more time, I was panicing at this time because it felt so gross on my feet. By the third time it stung me, penetrating a hole through my toe!
The resort Dr came to see me on the beach. In the end I had to have a needle. My toe hurt like hell.

Then my next visit to Puerto Vallarta this past summer, we stayed at the Vista Playa De Oro. This time I was just standing in the ocean, cooling off, taking in the beautiful scenery and all of a sudden myself and other people around me were grabbing at our legs, screaming and looking at each other. We were being bit by jellyfish apparently. This will still not keep me out of the ocean, but I do plan on bringing waterslippers with me! I also tend to learn from my past experiences. The ocean is beautiful and the stingrays and the jellyfish will not keep me out!!

Cheers
Aprilraine
