Has anyone had experience entering mexico as a Canadian with a criminal record? I have found no information online that limits travel to Mexico for persons with a criminal record. I have called the mexican tourism hotline, they gave me a phone number for a Mexican Consul in Canada, I called them, they said I wont have a problem.
I have e-mailed the Mexican embassy in Ottawa and received this as a reply
Dear Sir,,
Criminal Record
Foreigners who wish to enter Mexico in any migratory category (tourists, students, residents, etc.) DO NOT require a POLICE CLEARANCE (Criminal Record) certificate.
Nevertheless, immigration officersmay eventually deny entry to foreigners who have committed a serious crime, served a prison sentence or are currently on parole. (Article 106 of the Regulations of the General Population Law)
Sincerely,
Embassy of Mexico
I will print off my correspondance with them incase of difficulties, but from what I have heard, Mexican officials in PV ask to see passports but dont actually scan them. With many people not even being asked to show any ID.
Can someone walk me though how the immigration portion of arriving in PV actually works??
