Fishing Regulations ?

I just returned in June after spending nine glorious days in PV,but now we have the PV chilling fever and are already planning a longer stay of a few months and if at that time we still have the fever we will start planning to move and chill forever. I love to fish,can you fish anywhere ?Do you need a license or permit ? I know there are guides that take you fishing, but i want to know if i can go fishing by myself anytime,anywhere as i do in the states ? Will appreciate any info. :D :D :D

You can fish from the beach, rocks or the pier without a license. From a boat you need a license. Most boat tours that you purchase will include the license in the price. Unlike the states, if you get caught fishing on a boat without a license, it is the boat captain that gets the ticket not you. They generally confiscate the equipment that is being used and hold it until the ticket is paid and clearance of the ticket is recieved from Mexico City. The bay is under Federal jurisdiction so everything that has anything to do boating/fishing/permits/licenses, etc. goes through Mexico City.

Thanks katnsocal,knew i could count on you. Sounds great as i love to do surf fishing,pier,jetties and from a boat at times. I hope we will be eating really fresh caught fish next time . :D :D :D
