Malaria pills for jungle tours?

Oh yes, it is so unsafe that you better take an AIDS test before and after entering the jungle....and be sure to stock up on barf bags because the mist in the jungle causes stomach problems...and yes a mask because the Mexican air causes nausea and did I mention the tse tse flies and all those rodents and be careful of an iguana bite as they hang from the trees and wait for jhuman flesh. Yes I am being sarcastic but love to play off ignorance. Go enjoy and do not stress, I see you need a vacation. :lol:

I think that all travelers should have Hep A&B and tetanus shots, who wants to get ill in a foreign country. As for the Malaria pills, remember that if you decide to take them, you must start a few weeks before, during and after your trip. I got malaria in the far east years ago and styill get bouts of it and it really screws up your liver for life. Imagine staying at an AI and passing on the free booze.

We went through the shots when we went to San Blas because it is everglades with mangrove swamps. But we never do it for routine trips to PV with jungle side trips. There are mosquitos but they are not bearing malaria. And it is not really a problem because there are few of them.

But if you are going to worry, then be safe.

The American Red Cross will exempt you from donations for 1 year if you travel into the jungles of PV and stay anywhere south of Playa del Carmen in the Carib. I think they are just trying to play it safe, because if there was a real problem there would be posts from malaria victims all over the BBs that cater to these vacation spots. :?
