Nuevo Vallarta??

Just wondering if anyone can give me any info on Nuevo Vallarta, how far away is it from downtown, is it possible to get downtown at night/what is cab fare from downtown to the Decameron, etc. We are thinking of staying at the Decameron but are not sure, because it is outside of PV...Any information would be great! I have stayed in nuevo twice... bus is much better now but is 30 mins I think 10 pesos... last bus left town at 10 pm and cab fair was about 70 pesos back I think.. it is kind of far if you want to go to town alot and is a pain.... However the beach was beautiful and they have started to build that area up. The atmosphere and the REAL fun are in town though.
