Please tell me why this isn't true?
If you have an affinity for our southern friends and their language and if you do not want to be taken to the cleaners by all the hype and glitter, you may want to plan your next trip to Puerto Escondido. It is definitely a resort town but all the “tourists” are from México or Europe. One week there is worth a year in PV…

Re:Please tell me why this isn't true?
I personally like both places because they are different, but like Sue said, the perfect place to vacation depends on the individual. Puerto Escondido is smaller and more laid back than PV, and without the big tourist crowds and higher prices. The hotels are more downscale than the PV resorts, but some are still nice. Surfers will appreciate the large ocean waves in the area. PE caters to a very different kind of traveler than PV.

I think that transportation to Puerto Escondido is more difficult than transportation to Puerto Vallarta, especially when you consider that there are several direct flights and several cruises from the US/Canada to Puerto Vallarta. Maybe that keeps its tourism to PE from other parts of North America down. If tourism to PE exploded, it would soon develop into another PV and what you find charming about it would be lost forever.

Have to agree with Bob , over the last several years we have become to feel more and more like walking dollar signs in Puerto Vallarta .We are getting more than a little sick and tired of the timeshare harrasment and the rip offs at the markets. People say its Mexico just relax and enjoy it but as Sioux pointed out to each there own and personally I feel that Puerto Vallarta is starting to drive away more and more tourists.Yes its a beautiful place and there are many great things about it however I have noticed a growing trend on this and other boards of people who pay big money to go away and relax and are starting to get fed up with some of the nonsense in Puerto vallarta. (THE AIRPORT TIMESHARE GAUNTLET FOR EXAMPLE)Anyways just my two centavos worth .

\"hassled by merchants\" \"vendors asking if you will buy their junk\"

It does not sound like most places in Mexico would be your cup of tea.

Too bad you did not take the time to relax and meet the people of Vallarta, they are the main ingredient that make it a wonderful place.

This two week holiday has been great..

We have been most places in the world and this is the best...

We can take a bit of hassle. The vast majority of the day is spent having fun....

Hope to be back next year...

Gracias
