Prepaid Visa Cards?

Started October 28, 2007 · 8,265 views · 4 posts
Has anyone used prepaid visa cards to pay for things in PV and how did it work out?

I am going there in December and reluctant to carry a lot of cash and hassle with the the conversion of US dollars to Pesos. Of course I know I will need to carry some cash for tips and buying from vendors.

Was thinking of Prepaid visa usage for meals mostly. I am reluctant to use my ATM card because of all the identity theft going on.

Cmon Nobody Uses pre Paid Visa Cards?
Anyone?
Are ATM withdrawals safe?
I have a ATM card but I worry how safe they are anymore with identify theft and fraud.

Are travelers checks still a safe way to go?

Thanks

I totally agree with both of you... i switched to a prepaid MC several years ago, when all the credit card companies kept raising my credit limits year after year whether i used them or not... then i kept getting new approved etc etc... i decided i am going to control my own destiny on this now... granted it costs me a monthly fee, but i have funds direct deposited from my pay check every two weeks and there we go and when i need more on there, i just change my deductions accordingly... the money i am spending on this card for fuel, repairs, entertainment, vacations etc... is MY MONEY... not Citibank, not American Express, and so forth... i sleep better at night too... ha ha ha... and it is readily available to me thru ATMs or check out counters....

check into it....
