Puerto Vallarta or....

Cabo...
I won a trip at work and have my choice of either destination. So...please tell me which I should choose and why! THanks all... :D

Parrot...it depends what you are after and when you are travelling...they are both nice but very different from one another. Cabo is an arrid climate very similar to Southern Califronia...rainfall is scarce, temps are pleasantly warm (not hot) in winter but blazing hot in the summer. Puerto Vallarta is sub tropical and has very warm, sunny winters and summers that are hot and humid with rainfall for some periods in the day through the summer. For lack of a better way to say it, I would say that Cabo has more of an American feel to it whereas PV gives you a truly Mexican experience. PV is larger so there is more variety as far as nightlife, food and activities, although Cabo has more to offer for the fishing or golf enthusiast. I would also say that the properties offered would have some influence and you should check them out and compare. Remember both locations have adjacant communities considered to be one and the same, PV has Nuevo Vallarta as Cabo San Lucas has San Jose del Cabo and where you will be exactly would also be a factor. Personally...I would choose PV. I hope that helps. You should get a lot of opinions but I would say on this board they will lean toward PV...sonofdob.

It really depends on what you are looking for. In Cabo sa Jose there is a pleasant little town and some good hotels, but you can not swim in the Sea at any of them due to the rip tides. In Cabo san Lucas there are better upscale hotels, more resturants and bars and basically one good beach to walk to. There are lots of tours that will take you to great diving spots at both. They are both crass little towns that have great appeal to some. The fishing is definitely better than in PV.
PV offers hotels, bars and resturants in all classes and almost always you can swim in anything you see. PV as well offers dozens of more tours and activities and ambience.
With a good attitude you can enjoy either. Its much like my experience ie. I never liked Vancouver until I saw Toronto!

I think the above are pretty reasonable assessments. I think Cabo is slightly higher class because there are fewer low cost choices. I think of it like Palm Springs but with ocean to look at and great fishing.

The golf in PV is now competitive. There are 8 world class courses now compared to 2 just 6 years ago (Flamingos and the Marina). More variety of things to do in PV especially if you prefer not to fish or you like to swim in the ocean (especially in the hotel zone and NV).

We are going to be at the Club Regina from February 22nd until March 4th. If you see a 50 year old blonde woman in a wheelchair, come over and say hi!:)

We can always meet at the El Dorado beach. We are there 3 days a week.
La Palapa # is 222-6060 (#204) to arrange a suitable day. We are usually in the unit until 10am then from 5 until 7pm for sunset.

is it warm enough to swim during the day...is the water temp nice? Also, is it chilly at nite?

parrot...it will be very warm, you will NEED to swim...night time will be warm as well...sonofdob.

Good for you!!! I want to warn you to be careful while you are in PV. It is very dangerous. You will fall in love with it and not want to leave. We leave the 21st for a month and it is never long enough. This will be our 14th year. Have fun and enjoy the people and the beauty of PV. Nora from Missouri
