Question about US $ and pesos

Hi, just got home last night fr PV. You can spend with pesos, dollars or credit cards. exchange rate is almost even, at our hotel $100 bought 1030 pesos. Almost every one accepts dollars at par. Depending on your food tastes you can spend whatever you want for restaurants. Old Town is loaded with good ones.
Frankfort, Andolay, La Fonda, Kit Kat, are all good and reasonable. Stay away from the Vista Grill. Only one in town that feeds you pretty but leaves you hungry and makes you wait a very long time to do it.

The Trio is slightly upscale price wise but gives good value for the money spent,

Feel safe walking around down town, probably the safest resort town in all of Mexico.

not to offend anyone, but this whole US dollars thing in Mexico seems odd to me...you do not see this concern elswhere...travellers world wide spend the currency of the Nation they are visiting...I do not see travellers trying to tip the service staff with US dollars in France, or Holland or England or Italy or...you get the picture...sonofdob.

We happily take them in Toronto . You will get Canadian change . US dollars are as good as it gets. :)

Smitty, actually there are three currencies that are out performing the USD right now, and have been consistently since 2001...the British Pound, the Euro and the Yen...fyi...sonofdob.

No doubt you are right about the other currencies but any traveller (not a tourist ! 8) ) especially in North America realizes the US $ is boss .

Just a little side bar here. Really nothing to do with anything except this discussion brought it back. When I was in Vietnam fighting the \"war\" we could get, for a $20.00 us greenback, $100.00US in swiss franks; uk pounds; or french franks on the black market, because the Viet Cong wanted US cash more than anything else because they could buy anything on the world market, including arms and ammunition to kill us with. Needless to say, none of us ever took that 500% investment. Chuck... 8)
