Summer Concern

Hello,

I am going to be visiting Puerto Vallarta for the first time this August.

I feel bad for the people injured and harmed from the virus already, I hope no one else will die. I am not too worried about catching the virus myself, but I am also concerned about how much the city is going to have to shut down to slow the infection.

Has anyone heard of problems in Puerto Vallarta with the recent news of H1N1?

There are no confirmed cases in either the states of Jalisco or Nayarit. So therefore no cases in Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta at this time.

By August this whole thing will be over. Just be aware August is SLOW season in PV. Alot of the restaurants close at that time of year either for vacation or for remodeling, painting, etc. So the town is naturally slower at that time of year than it is in the high season, much the same as any other resort town that relies on tourist trade and has a high and low season. It is hot and humid in August, rains almost every night for a couple of hours or it might last all night but the next day the sun comes out and it is hot and sunny until that evening. Just be aware you need to take extra caution to stay hydrated (with water) and use a high SPF sunblock. I have gone down many times in August and I love it at that time of year. There are more local mexican families on vacation and it is fun to watch the families having fun with their kids.
