Re:Time share salespersons
You can look at timeshares in different perspectives. I do not have anything (well, not much anyway) against timeshare. It is the hook, lying, gouging, harrassing, empty promises, blah blah that they use to get the \"innocent\" tourist into a \"free\" breakfast. They are now everywhere, posting as hosts-hostesses, assistants in the grocery stores, etc. Why is there no restrictions, or at least restrictions that are enforced here? Mainly because selling the timeshares pumps $ into Vallarta. Hmmmmm....and in the end, selling timeshares (most anyway) will have a large percentage of those buyers NOT returning to PV but using their timeshares in other destinations. True, there are a handful that are ONLY for here in PV: I know a few honest timeshare salespeople (OPCs). I know a whole lot more that are NOT honest. I have seen their study sheets, books, etc that are given to them when they begin. (\"sales\" techniques)...scarey reading material! The poor businesses that are surrounded on both sides by timeshare booths are losing business because people walk on the other side of the street (mainly on the Malecon). So it is sort of a Catch 22 situation. And dont think for a minute that those OPCs are \"poor\" - if they receive, on the average 100USD (usually more) for each couple that they send...that is nearly 1,000 pesos per couple. With the average wage being around 50 pesos per day....they are definitely NOT poor! Not to mention all of the tours that they sell \"under the table\" pocketing that commission. Whew! Long winded I am tonight...but I still believe the OPCs will remain a black mark against PV.
