Tipping

Started November 17, 2003 · 1,996 views · 2 posts
Even though we are staying at an all-inclusive resort which says tipping included, what is a fair amount to tip the bartenders per day and the maids per day. I want to tip them enough to make them happy and give me good service. Also, should I tip in american dollars or pesos?

Any suggestions????

Re:Tipping
Hi Val

Tipping is a great idea even though its an all inclusive and they tell you that tips are included , the people who works their butts off at these resorts dont make a lot of money I probably have this wrong but I think the average wage is around 10 dollars us per day .Anyways a tip or propina for the maids ...rule of thumb is around 1 dollar us rper person perday or 10 pesos (10 pesos = 1 us dollar) try and tip at the begining of the week and never leave it on the table always try and hand it to the person .As for bartenders its a little like pay as you go smae for waiters and such , dont know if your cdn or us but try and always tipr with pesos , I know money is money but one fella told me that they have trouble with coins especially cdn although I dont think a us dollar would ever be refused. One more thing if you happen to go to a grocery store like Gigantica the small kids that bag the groceries dont get paid they survive on tips only .
Hope this helps
