So much tipping it is a little crazy...I dont know how much to tip, for instance the Bag people at Mega G, I shop there and usually it is little old men and women, that count there money right before I come up there, and dont know what to tip them.... Another instance is the people at PeMex Stations, I stopped once to get gas at one location and they had a sign for 10 Dollars as a tip, that is 50% if you are filling up, and more depending on gas.... Then I have a maid that comes in twice a week, and I dont know what to tip her, I dont know what she gets paid, or if I leave too little money, I dont know. I feel comfortable in Restaurants than everywhere else, I usually leave a 15-20% tip. It is just tipping in PV is kinda crazy, and no one mentions anything to you though, just kinda going crazy myself.....

good one ronald... good one... it is terrible the way some people are treated and expected to \"beg\" for tips because they get paid so little if at all like you said... it is just plain stealing by these entities to make their bottom line look better... make the bottom line look respectible and pay your help a decent wage then... that is what makes and turns the economy... pay the worker decently, then the worker and spend his paycheck right back into your wallet, and the circle goes round and round... DUH....  8)
I forget pesos are real money and sometimes act like its monopoly money. Ive given some great tips . That is until I run out of cash and hit the atm then it became real money.
The grocery boys bagging I give simply the smaller coins from my change.
The room maid I give 20-30 peso per day (one person).
Restaurants I tip ~20% on the bill.

I will tip possibly 10 percent at a restaraunt...no more..because they pay mexican wages and charge us prices..the owners are making a good if not exceptional profit and not paying their staff...go outside of pv by even 15 miles and the prices are mexican not us and the us people give credence to the large tips //it will just go on and on. why make the owners rich whwn they are not paying their staff
Tipping
My advice to deciding on who to tip and how much is to stop and think if the person really deserved a tip. The service in Puerto Vallarta in general is quite good so no one should not be giving you the proper service. If you feel that a person did not deserve the tip what so ever then you are not obliged to tip them. I usually tip the maids about $20 american the last day, waiters are nice and provide good service, sometimes the cab driversand of course the bartenders, now you must not forget to tip them you will notice how much quicker your drink will come when you start tipping them well. When I arrive at the Puerto Vallarta airport I try to avoid people carrying my bags to the bus because I find them a lttle to aggressive when they demand a tip!
Wow this is such a good idea and I should have plenty of bath and body works to take along with me from taking advantage of the last big semi annual sale!

Bravo Senor Carlos. Excellente buddy. Lorrie and I are alot like you and Kaye. We too can afford it and we will do it routinely and regularly with anybody and everybody in Puerto Vallarta, not just the resort.
it is to each their own on this subject. but if you want walk a mile in their shoes, you may re-think this subject

What would be a good or average tip for the porters at the PV airport?I believe the norm is 10 pesos per bag, I give the porter 50 pesos for our three large bags, and have always gotten a big grin and a hearty gracias.
