I would say Vallarta has 90% LESS mosquitos than Minnesota. With that said, wear insect repllant, widely availble here and enjoy!

The Marriott is a gran tourismo hotel by MX standards. In the US, I would say four to five star depending on the city (how any hotel/tourism comes up with ratings is beyond me) and a wonderful hotel. You will like it:)
