1ST Timer..HELP..VILLA VERADERO?

Hello....first trip to PV...spent 2 weeks in cancun and loved it..except for the high american prices for dining. Want to stay in nuevo section for the beach but not at an all-inclusive....so has anyone ever heard of the Villa Veradero? I know that it is not an upscale resort but does offer an AI optional plan so I would rather spend my money at the downtown restaurants. Also considering the Marriot but want to have a great beach so anyone knoe about the status of the marina section post-hurricane? One more thing....are restaurant prices reasonable (for canadian exchange) or are they comparable to higher resort destinations? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..THANKS

Paradise village is very nice and has great activities there.

take AI in your hotel. the prices are ok for american tourists in the restaurants in P.V>. dinner will cost you easy 40-50 cand. $$$$

If you want to stay in Neuvo for the great beaches, I would suggest you take the all inclusive option...or if avail, breakfast only option (the breaky buffet is always the best meal). In Neuvo,the restaurants are far and few between..it will be a big hassle everytime you want to eat. At the Paradise, the restaurants are very expensive. So, if you are planning on beaching it during the day and only going into town for the evenings, get all inclusive, otherwise stay closer to town and the cheaper, walking distance restaurants.

I have not been on the Marina beaches since Kenna. But they were not great beaches before the hurricane in my opinion. Nuevo beaches are great! But staying closer to town is definetly preferable. Shopping, restaraunts, shopping, walking the Malecon, shopping, street food, beach bars......Go to Destiladeras and El Anclote for day trips to the beach. The Las Caletas day trip is also very nice.
