6am and down to the beach?

Can someone tell me who has stayed at the Villa del Palmar / Villa del Mar lately if I still have to get up before the birds and the sun and put my towles down at the beach or at the pool so that I am sure to get a spot? No, I am not one of these people that puts the towels down and then maybe shows up at noon I just want to make sure I have a spot when I have finished breakfast. Also, just curious if this happens at other resorts or just this one?

i have heard that about other resorts as well. i think the resorts should be on top of things like this.

My wife and I have stayed twice at the Solare in Nuevo Vallarta and never had this problem. It is a smaller hotel (180 rooms) and it was always full while we were there. We never went down to the pool / ocean until after breakfast and never had any problem getting a place to sit or relax. I think that this may be associated more to larger resorts.

[just go to the beach, thats why you are in mexico, not to stay in a hotel for the vacation otherwisae you can stay at home. meet the locals on the beach, buy a souvenior, have a fish stick or go to a beach restaraunt in old town..enjoy ,just get out of your hoteluiv quote]palapa_gal (Feb 24, 2005 07:05 p.m.):

Here is what I do ...if I go down to the beach and see a spot I want and it has been \"reserved \" I give who ever reserved it about a half hour if they dont show up I toss their stuff down the beach .I have seen chairs reserved all day and no one show up , there is little or no enforcemnet at most resorts , prepare to be aggresive or be walked all over !

this is a sore spot for me....I have absolutely no problem taking people junk off of a chair and sitting down....when they do show up..they contend with me!......I let them know how idiotic they are....and to please be more considerate tomorrow...

At the Los Arcos hotel they have a fellow who has you sign out the number of chairs you need along with your towels.
We used to go down around 9:30 am and tip him and he would oversee the chairs.
Nobody took any of our chairs while we breakfasted, it was forbidden. If you were leaving for good he would come and scoop up your chairs on the beach unless he had another client from the hotel. Even in Cuba last january this was the custom and nobody took your chair. Their was an honor amongst the first ones there.

umm ok here is the deal at our resorts.... while we noticed alot of chair saving we also noticed alot of people who saved the chairs not coming back til like way after lunch. the first day it was not a problem BUT the days after it was... do not go to the towel guy and ask him to save your spots that just perpetuaues the problem. i was mad becuase alot of older people were sitting in uncomfortable chairs and didnt want to move anyones towels even thought they had not been there all morning. what we did is went to the front desk and asked them what thiere policy was and the sed it was not allowed we then pointed out that more than half of the chairs had been un occupied for more than half than morinng and that alot of older people were sitting in uncomfortable chairs because they didnt have any space. the lady came up right away and seen what was up and removed all the towels from the un occupied towels then she talked to the towel guy and sed to us that is not their policy and to tell them if it happened again. the elderly people were all thankful and sed that it was a good thing we did and they all had a place to sit. we did too. then after about 2 hours all the reservists trickled back in the first to say anything was to us and they were very rude about it . they sed hey get off our towels you are on our spot. we sed no we are not and then informed them that this was not allowed and the hotel staff sed so and that we felt it was very unfair to just claim a spot if you werent there and that if you choose to leave the resort all day then thats your tough luck(we were very polite about this) well they got very huffy and told us they were going to see the manager and that they did this all week and that we were gonna be told to move. we sed very nicely well if thats what you feel you need ot do then go ahead. needless to say they came back and they didnt say anything to us and only went and found new chairs. so after that the pool people were very watchfull and this situation nevr happened again. so to me i would say book where ever and dont be shy to assert yourself. because it isnt fair to all the other guest s when only a select few get the best seats every day just because they feel entitled to it....

Hey Queens, you are so funny! I’m anxious to read your vacation report, being a virgin to PV, especially at the Villas. How did you like it? I use to own timeshare there many years ago and really liked the location and beach vendors, who many of them are my long time amigos. They all treat me like a queen, on the beach and at the clubs.
Good for you about snagging chairs for the elderly and getting the management involved. Hopefully this will change things going forward, but I kind of doubt it in the long run. I too tried tipping the chair person, but that didn’t always work because they too have a day off. While I was there (CDS) last spring, I lucked out and came up with my own idea that worked, but I’m not willing to share it with the whole board…sorry people. If there’s a will, there’s a way. (And no, it’s nothing sexual). My vacation consists of waking up, vegging (lounging) at the pool, soaking up the sun, eating, drinking, and having too much fun, all night long with the locals.
Hope you had a great vacation and got the PV fever, like the rest of us.
