We will be in Puerto Vallarta staying at the Krystal from November 8 - 15, 2002. Does anyone know if there is still a beach at Krystal and how much damage has been done to the grounds.

finally a very honest straightforward reply to the condition of the beaches. So sorry that you had to experience these conditions. We all work very hard for our $$$$$ and are entitled to a honest answers.

The beach at the Krystal never was very nice it was always rocky ...
If a hurricane goes through your vacation spot you have to expect a liittle down time for clean up folks ....common sense says there is going to be some damage...be patient PVR is still beautiful

I emailed the above posting by beenthere and the following from a different board to the Krystal.
The Krystal---if you are staying here, i recommend you change hotels if you are going real soon. We moved our friends from this place, and it was hit very hard, but who knows, they could get it back soon? The pools/units 1st floor were trashed badly, (palm trees in them) and the ground floor units completely blown out, walls and all. (we shot this to video) They still had one small pool open for the resort. What i could not believe, was that they were putting people on the second floor units above the blown out first floor units, with views/smells of the destruction. The really bad part was also the stagnent water and sludge around, that was drawing mosquitos by the thousands--received 14 bites in 10 minutes. It smelled really bad there too, but like i said, they were moving along here too, so it might be okay sooner than later

Unfortunately the information is somewhat accurate except the part about the walls been \"blown out\". The hotel grounds are fine and the aqueduct pool is opened, which I would not necessarily qualify as a small pool. The pool at the 7 columns will be opened soon however I am not exactly sure when. The pool in the horse shoe area which is the Timeshare section will take a while (several weeks) to be up and operating. The beach does look bad but that is why the bulldozer is there to fix it. Kenna was a category 5 hurricane and there has been repercussions but we are hard at work getting things operational and comfortable for our guest. The resort has insurance against these things and everything will be taken care of but it will take some time. You can keep yourself updated throughwww.pvmirror.com web page.
