We have found April is considered \"off season\", we have been to PV several times in April and early May, the weather is still great but for the most part the humidity is less and only an ocassional rain shower at night. And if you are lucky a spectacular lightening and thunder storm at night.
Our very favorite is the GCP (headed back for Christmas for our 9th visit) but have also stayed at other resorts, if you are looking for another All Inclusive, I would recommend the Villa Premiere, but it is more spendy than the GCP, and also a much more layed back atmosphere, very quiet, but you do have privileges at their sister hotel the Buenventura, more active and boisterous (sp)?l
Non-stop direct flight from Portland is a blessing!
I booked a December one stop flight last June only to find out that Alaska now has a non-stop direct flight from PDX on certain months and days. The flight is about 4 1/2 hours long so I upgraded to first class to get the extra leg room and free drinks.
If not for Funjet in STL we could never have spent so many vacations in PV. They really discount these trips using a charter and these are not so bad because from STL to either PV or Cancun it is usually a 3 hour flight. I can sit in sardine can for that long, for a week in either of these locals.
