El Pescador or Rosita

Hello -

trying to decide between the el pescador or the rosita. Can anyone help by telling me the difference between the two and the pros and cons.

Rosita is a nicer hotel in general and the staff are better...of the two i would go with Rosita for sure

I am still trying to decide.

I just found out their is no beach at the Rosita and that the beach is at the el pescuador, but is nothing to really speak of.

We just have really good rates at the Rosita..Unfortunately they are downtown views/no balconies......it would be double the price to get ocean view - BUT - they are willing to put us at the El pescuador for the same rates with a ocean view.

any further input?

Greetings, We have stayed at the El Pescador in 2000, and are booked in this February. It is quite, clean,friendly staff, pool nice size, never had a problem with getting a chair or table with umbrella. Hotel food was good. It had a beach front, but would not swim there as for the undertoe is bad. You can walk down the beach to another place to swim or just swim in the pool. When are you thinking of going? Maybe we will see you at the hotel.

We walked by the Rosita every morning on our beach walk. The area in front of the Rosita smelled poor, kind of like urine. Pool was small at the Rosita too. If you choose the El Pescador you will not regret it. It is small and not frills. Our second time down to PV we did absolutely nothing. Had continental breakfast at the hotel, we always tipped so we had excellent service. Then we went for our walk on the beach about 1 1/2 hrs. Then relaxed by the pool watched for whales right from the pool area. Very relaxed. And we got cleaned up around 4:30 or 5 and walked downtown sight seeing and shopping. Most nights ate at different places. Excellent fish, and ribs at El Toritos. We ate there 4 times during our stay. We did eat at the hotel. Food was good, and not usually very busy. I burnt the tops of my feet so we could not walk far, as I could not wear shoes.

One more thing in re-reading your posts. \"Downtown view\" at the Rosita most likely translates a room on the street side of the hotel. Rosita sits RIGHT on the main drag. This is a very busy street so could turn out to be quite noisy with traffic - cars, busses, taxis, etc. well into the night.

Re: Rosita - possibly smelly also as there are fish shacks or stands right next door. Depending on the prevailing winds and your room location. Great location (the webcam is here) though.

And the public bathroom is right there (see it on the webcam) so that urine smell is there for a reason :)

Yeah I have been in the hotel dozens of times & walked by hundreds. I have never smelled anything offensive so I do not know what they are talking about.

Yep there is a public bathroom that was on the cam. It is across the street from the Rosita/Pravda Cafe behind the taco and Pescadores Cooportivo.
As far as smells, everything smells more when it is hot. In the mid-morning when they are cleaning fish you can smell fish.... in July, August, September, because of the hotter temps and humidity, the scent sort of explodes, especially when there is no breeze.
I live three blocks from there and walk around there often, as of late, no smells.

Hi Kim:
My wife and I have stayed at both the el Pescador and the Rosita. Both propertes are owed by the same people. Service at the Rosita is better and the staff is friendlier thanat the el Pescador. The Bell hop at the el pescador is a great guy that speaks good english and is very knowledgable. The front staff at the Rosita are all super. The restaurant and service at the Rosita is great and the prices are fair. The Restaurant at the el pescador is okay but I do prefer the Rosita.
Unless you are only going to sleep in your rooms I would suggest upgrading to an ocean view room at both hotels, as the Steet Rooms are not as nice and can be quite noisy. Both hotels are good value and you are close to all the night clubs and activities along the Malacon. hope this is of help.

We have decide to cancel the Rosita.

We are now staying at Suites Emperador in one of their Master Suites.
