My first question to you is where are you staying so that we can advise you better, because if you are in Nuevo Vallarta, you are about 30 minutes by taxi from downtown, and if you are staying closer to down town, then head to the malecon and just people watch. it is fantastic. you will love Vallarta... there is so much to do or not do, you set the pace that is for sure...

have a great time...

my recomendation would be the sea life park. It has many waterslides, a kiddies area bird shows, sea lion show and dolphin show. Its around 18 dollars us to get in and you can spend the whole day there. We didnt have kids there but we had fun and there were tons of familys there. Im not sure if there would be a charge for your child as they are only 2

We will be staying in downtown in the Rosita Hotel. Also, another hing we want to do is use the bus at least a few times while there. Thnaks.
you can use a taxi and it will take you right to the front gate. Or we used the zoom screech stop (buses). When you come out of your hotel turn left go 2 blocks, you will come to a super market across the street,go past that one block, cross the street and turn left theres a bus stop there. catch the busthat has walmart on the window 4.5 pesos per person. Get off at walmart you will see more buses ahead. There are guys there that will tell you which bus you need. The waterpark is in nuevo its about a 15min to 20 min ride. They will drop you off on the side of the highway and you will have to walk down a hill to get there.

The only thing when coming back is you have to cross the major highway to catch the bus going back. with a little one Im not sure how you feel about that and you do have to flag a bus down.

There are more experienced ppl here on the board than me so they might have other ideas.
my new favourite saying
The dolphin experience in Nuevo is great, I would suggest a taxi from PV to Nuevo, take the bus to the Walmart and then get a cab, 2 years ago a taxi ride was approx $15.00, well worth it!
