Re:Golden Crown Rooms
standard rooms... as you get higher they become ocean view etc... then there are the junior suits, honeymoon suites, etc... then in the new wing there are 12 suites with jacquizis on the balcony... then in the regular part there are three honey moon suites... 2nd, 5th and 7th.... then over the paradise resturant there are some nice time share rooms that have kitchenetts and table and chairs etc... they are nice too....
hope that helps you sassy....

Re:Golden Crown Rooms
Thanks Tom...I requested a ground floor room, but maybe I should change that as it seems we will only get a run of the mill room with little privacy....how about 2nd and 3rd floor rooms?????? Are they still standard?
Re:Golden Crown Rooms
i am sure they are as well... double check with Rose Mary.... i will e-mail you here address from our regular account....
have a great time... wishing we were going back... we just got our pictures back and got the photo album put together....

Re:Golden Crown Rooms
We stayed at the Crown ( Golden) for our third and very last time this year , I can understand that Mr and Mrs Crown think that this place is great but not everyone gets the honeymoon suites , as returning guests this year we had asked for a nice room on an upper floor , imagine our surprise when we got a second floor room that reaked of sewage, we had to sleep with wet towels covering the drains and beg for a different room the next day , 6 hours later we got another room this one with stained comforter ( God only knows what was on it) ripped sheets and a dank musty smell (over and above the humid smell of rooms in Mexico) . We again aproached the front desk and were very rudely told they were full and we werent repeat guests , funny that night we were invited to a cocktail party for repeaters ????
The things that will make me not go back include , broken elevators forcing us to take several flights of stairs . Warning this resort has had elevator problems for the last several years , if you ask they will tell you they are in the proccess of fixing them 3 years and still not fixed ???
Laundry this is a real joke they take your towels and your lucky to get any back before 6 pm sometimes (after repeated calls ) they will bring you most of them but hardly ever a full set all at once .Most Other resorts both in Puerto Vallarta and Cancun will have your room done by 10 or 11 am and even come back to ask if you need more towels after supper , this problem again is 3 years old at the Golden crown when we asked the front desk in our first year we got some obscure explanation that the laundry machines were old and they had more towels on order ...3 years and still the same old problems .
The convention facilities are for ........you guessed it conventions , ususally not a big deal but there was a large group of idiots there whose behaviour was typical of a large group away from home with unlimted booze , boorish and rude my next resort will have no such facilties .
Previous threads have said that the owner of this resort is spending money for a new swim up bar etc ...great you can swim up for a drink but you cant dry off ..how about fixing the elevators my husband has a bad knee and its pretty tough climbing up 6 floor s because the elevators are out Again.
This resort has sunk to a 3 star trying to be a 4.5 , as well the layout gets pretty tiresome if you dont get up at 6 in the morning your out of luck for a chair at the pool or Palapa...and its also getting pretty old lining up like cattlel for a meal reservation ,,,ever heard of a phone you guys call the desk and make a reservation ...for the budget minded and first timers not a bad place but if you want 5 star ( towels and clean sheets ) I would recomend going elsewhere...perhaps thats why the owner is building a new resort in Nuevo I think that this one has run its course ...
Well you live and learn we have travelled extensively throughout the South Pacific , Carribean even southeast asia and while I have a special place in my heart for the people of Puerto Vallarta I will go for a resort that at least provides the basics next year .
(Ya know clean sheets , enough towels working elevators etc )
Bye

First of all - Mogens please do not delete or stop this thread. :)
I’ve been debating whether or not to post something about our recent trips to PV and the GCP but after JBC’s post, I couldn’t resist. And, yes I said trips. We stayed at the GCP for a whopping 2 days in January. This was SUPPOSED to be our first vacation in 9 years. (My husband and I own our own business and couldn’t possibly perceive leaving it unattended for 7 days.) We only stayed 2 days at the GCP because we had a death in the family and had to fly home. (This was our $4000 orientation to the GCP.) Within a week after returning home, my husband and I decided we still needed a vacation, decided to give PV another try and made reservations to return in March. Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Crown, we were able to get in touch with Rose Mary at GCP, explain what happened to us in January and to let her know we were coming back. When we arrived on March 9th, we couldn’t check in but Gabriel gave us our wristbands. We ate lunch at the Breeze Bar, walked around, had a couple Sol’s and before we knew it, it was 3:30 and our room was ready. Much to our surprise, we had a sign outside our room, bathrobes, slippers and a Jacuzzi on our balcony. We paid for an oceanfront room and asked Rose Mary for a higher floor than our room in January, but by no means did we expect this!
I’m not sure if JBC is the same poster to Tripadvisor that stated they returned home on March 14 – if so – we were there at the same time. We are not aware of any wild and crazy conventions during our stay. There was a group of men that came, we called them the gray shirt men because that is what they wore. We never saw any of them booze it up and be rude.
JBC complains about the elevators. My husband did get caught in the elevator one night with a group of people. Sounded like everyone took it in stride and if you knew my husband you would know he’d be the first to freak out. From that point on we took the steps and smooched on every landing. Good exercise in between short breaks.
JBC complains about the towels and sheets. How often do you change your sheets at home? How often do you get out fresh towels? Our home is on a septic (if you don’t know what this is – check it out on the web). As a result we are very careful about how much water we use each day – especially when we’ve had a lot of rain. That being said, we had clean sheets and towels every day. One night they did bring towels around 10:00 but it didn’t matter to us because we still had 2 clean towels from the day before.
The people at the GCP are always cleaning and painting. The resort is spotless. We met a couple that was there when the hurricane hit. They said the water was a foot deep in Salvador’s! They were evacuated inland. They said of all the resorts that evacuated their guests to this shelter, the GCP was the only resort that made sure their guests had water and food. After they were allowed to return to the GCP, they didn’t have electricity for 1 day, the second day they had water but it was cold. The swimming pool was filled with sand, the breeze bar was destroyed and the palm trees were gone. They helped remove the sand from the pool – bucket by bucket. Obviously they didn’t have any complaints about the GCP or they wouldn’t have come back every year since. We met another couple that has been to the GCP 8 times – they go twice a year.
My husband and I live at major tourist destination in Missouri. We put up with the FT’s (the T is for tourist) all year long – more so in the summer months. These people, many of whom own second homes here and come down on weekends because they live and work in the big city – Kansas City, St Louis, are some of the rudest people we have ever encountered. They shoot off fireworks at all hours of the night (no law against it), throw their trash (entire trash bags) out along side the roads and drive up and down our residential road at 60 mph. We even have an FT who installed a train whistle – yes a train whistle – which he blows about every hour on the weekends. That being the case, we are very much aware of how tourists can be perceived by others and try to be polite and appreciative of those in the service industry.
JBC mentioned they have traveled extensively. So have I – South Africa, Kenya, Morocco, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Thailand, Nepal, India, throughout Europe and now Mexico. My husband every place in between. When traveling outside the US you have to take things in stride and put things in perspective. Squat toilets?? Don’t drink the water?? Don’t eat unpeelable fruit?? My airplane is delayed 2 hours and there isn’t any heat in the airport in the middle of December??
March 17th – it was back to reality. Have four loads of laundry, have to make up the menu for next week, make up a grocery list, go to the grocery store. Crap. But, at least we had clean sheets and towels.
What?? Go back to GCP?? You bet! Already working on it.

Re:Golden Crown Rooms
Wow
Personal attacks aside JJ I dont even know you but its nice to know I wont be there ??Very friendly indeed!
As for the other comments I resent being accused of treating the staff like galley slaves again you have no idea how my husband and I treat people ...
As for the comment on how often I change my sheets at home the statement was about clean comforters and dirty sheets on a bed we hadnt even slept in !
So the elevators dont work at all times interseting for anyone with a disability dont you think...As my husband has a bad knee anything more than one flight of stairs can be very painful for him not everyone is physically capable of taking 2 or 3 flights of stairs when the elevator quits !
As for the WW 2 washing machines ...thats great a resort that charges a premium dollar for its services but cant deliver towels to your room because their laundry facilities are 60 years old .
As for digging deeper in my pockets for a better room the Crown should advertise then If you want a room that does not smell of sewage pay the upgrade to a honey moon suite ...I never said I wanted a fancy room just a clean one .
Its nice that you and Mrs CROWN have such a great place to visit but by your criteria if I want good service I have to hang out with the staff , get to know the owner and Manager ...so anyone who just pays top dollar and walks in runs the risk of a crapy room and poor service?

Re:Golden Crown Rooms
I am sorry that is my wife and i try to make friends with the staff... We did this when we used to go to Sandals in Montego Bay Jamaica too... We got to know the staff, owner on down the person that cleaned our toilets... We loved Sandals MoBay until Mr. Butch Stewart the owner of the resort started really jacking with the rates especially to the members of the returning guest club... I can stay two weeks at the GCP for the price of one week in Jamaica... that is just the kind of people we are.. and if that is how we want to be referred to then so be it... that is our life style, not yours... Yes they have vintage equipment some 60 yrs old, but if they still work, why change now... yes maybe they should of upgraded some when they added the additional 72 rooms they took from the old Playa de Oro to accomodate the additional usage... But unfortunately things made 60 yrs ago are still better than some of the crap out on the market today... It is too bad that you had a terrible time on this your last trip to the GCP...
We can only wish you the best in your life.. may you find a place that you can call home.... For us it will be the Golden Crown Paradise....
Peace and Love this Easter Season....

Re:Golden Crown Rooms
We stayed at GCP over New Years for one week. It was wonderful, we did not have a honeymoon suite, but we did reserve a ocean front room. We have been to PV on 8 different trips. We will always go back to the GCP or if we bring the kids we will stay at the CP again. We never met the staff before, but before we left we made friends with them all. We had no problems at all and can not wait to go back. My parents will be there the end of April, this will be their first time, but after seeing our pictures they booked a trip. I do not recall having any problems with towels,. lines and we found a pool side chair everyday.
Re:Golden Crown Rooms
Mr Crown
You are right it is your right to say how much you love the Crown just as it is my right to say my experience was very poor as for JJ thanks for your support , talk about anger management WOW!
I will say this in closing I arrived at the Crown and was given a lousy room I treated no one with disrespect , as for my outlook on life having anything todo with it Mr Crown that is an extreme judgement on your part. Anyway I thought this board was for everyone not just the whitewashers who cant take any critisism.
